b. Using suitable bar and hammer, drive off boot protector.
c. Pry up locking clip with screwdriver and remove band with pliers.
INSPECTION
1.
Check shaft for bending, twisting or damage, replacing as necessary.
2.
Check shaft splines for wear, replacing as necessary.
3.
Check joint on differential side for wear, excessive play, corrosion or damage, replacing as necessary.
4.
Check joint on wheel side for excessive play, wear, corrosion or damage, replacing as necessary.
ASSEMBLY
1.
Install differential side boot as follows:

a. Wrap splines on wheel side of shaft with tape and install boot with new boot band. Wheel side and differential side boots are different, Fig. 14.
b. Fold band back over itself while pulling on end of clip with pliers.
c. Lock end of band by bending locking clip.
