APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS
2007-2009 CX-7 vehicles with VINS lower than JM3ER****9*237392 produced before Dec. 18, 2008
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience steering wheel vibration when applying the brakes at 35 mph or higher. This concern may be caused by heat spots on the
disc plate created by repeated hard braking.
In order to improve brake cooling capability, the dust cover has been modified.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace both dust covers according to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 03-11 WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Inspect disc plates for discoloration (i.e. black and blue on disc plate surface or white spots on outer edge of disc plate).

If discoloration is present, replace the disc plate(s) according to M53 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 04-11 FRONT BRAKE
(DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

If discoloration is not present, machine the disc plate(s) according to M53 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 04-11 FRONT
BRAKE (DISC) INSPECTION).
NOTE:
Ensure run-out and disc plate thickness variation is within the workshop manual standards.
4. Replace brakes pads according to M53 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 04-11 DISC PAD (FRONT REPLACEMENT).
5. Verify repair with a short test drive.
