DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience oil seepage between the engine front cover and the engine block/head. Oil seepage may be seen on either side of the
engine front cover. This concern may be caused by improper sealing due to insufficient surface degreasing.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Re-seal the engine front cover according to the MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 01-10 TIMING CHAIN
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 WITH TC]).

NOTE:

^ Pay special attention to ensuring that area (A) shown below is thoroughly degreased before re-sealing (image shown with front engine cover loose).

^ Make sure to thoroughly degrease all of the surface area between the front engine cover (B) and engine block (C).

^ DO NOT replace the engine front cover for an improper sealing concern.

3. Verify repair.
