Oil Pan: Service and Repair

OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 WITH TC]

WARNING:

-

Hot engines and engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.

-

A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work
around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.

Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water
immediately after working with engine oil.

1. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE".  See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service Precautions/Vehicle

2. Remove the battery and battery tray.  See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement

3. Remove the under cover.

4. Remove the splash shield (RH).

5. Drain the engine oil.  See: Engine Oil/Service and Repair

6. Drain the engine coolant.  See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair

7. Remove the charge air cooler, air cleaner and fresh air duct component, and air hose.  See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair

8. Disconnect the quick release connector on the high pressure fuel pump.  See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Line

9. Remove the high pressure fuel pump.  See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and

10. Remove the ignition coils.  See: Powertrain Management/Ignition System/Ignition Coil/Service and Repair

11. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts before removing the drive belt.

12. Remove the drive belt.  See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair

13. Remove the P/S oil pump with hose and pipe still connected. Position the P/S oil pump out of the way.  See: Steering and

14. Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.  See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Crankshaft Position Sensor/Service

and Repair

15. Remove the engine front cover.  See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair

16. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

17. Install in the reverse order of removal.

18. Refill with the specified type and amount of the engine oil.  See: Engine Oil/Service and Repair

19. Refill the engine coolant.  See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair

20. Start the engine and confirm that there is no oil leakage.

If there is oil leakage, repair or replace the applicable part.

21. Inspect the oil level.  See: Engine Oil/Testing and Inspection

22. Inspect for engine coolant leakage.  See: Cooling System/Coolant/Testing and Inspection/Engine Coolant Leakage Inspection

23. Inspect for the ignition timing and idle speed.  See: Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Testing and Inspection
