7. Remove the bands.

8. Remove the nuts.

9. Remove the side air bag module.

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.

11. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

12. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and goes out.

If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection

Curtain Air Bag Module Removal/Installation

CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING:

Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system

1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.

3. Remove the following parts: 

a. A-pillar lower trim  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/A-Pillar Lower Trim Removal/Installation

b. A-pillar trim  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/A-Pillar Trim Removal/Installation

c. Front scuff plate inner  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Front Scuff Plate Removal/Installation

d. Rear scuff plate inner  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Rear Scuff Plate Removal/Installation

e. B-pillar lower trim  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/B-Pillar Lower Trim Removal/Installation

f.

Front seat belt upper anchor installation bolt  See: Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt/Service and Repair/Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation
