REMOVE

1. Remove in order of numbers in illustration.
2. Retainer, seal and plate assembly

a. Remove the retainer as shown in the figure.
b. Remove the seal and plate assembly.

INSTALL

1. Master cylinder

2. Retainer
3. Seal and Plate assembly

a. Remove the seal and plate assembly, and install the power brake unit gasket.

4. Adjust the push rod clearance as follows.

a. Attach the Special Service Tool (SST) to the power brake unit as shown in the figure, and tighten the locknuts to the specified torque.

Torque to 9.81-15.6 Nm (86-138 inch lbs.)

b. Apply 500 mmHg (19.7 inch Hg) vacuum by using a vacuum pump.
c. Measure depth L of the gauge rod.

Depth L: 35.1 mm (1.381 inch)

d. If not as specified, use the SST to adjust the push rod to the proper length.
e. Verify depth L of the gauge rod.
