PISTON STANDARDIZATION
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
All 1995-99 Millenia (KL engine only) with VINs higher than JM1 TA22** *1 501324.
All 1993-99 626/MX-6 (KL engine only) with VINs higher than 1YV GF22DO X5 847097.
DESCRIPTION
To improve parts availability, piston configurations have been standardized for left and right cylinder banks. The shape of the piston head cut-outs have
been modified. Because of this change, the new pistons may now be installed in both left and right cylinder banks. The piston "L" (left) and "R" (right)
marks have been replaced with a "F" mark. When installing a new piston, be sure to face the "F" mark toward the front of the engine. If the piston is
installed facing the wrong direction, a knocking noise and possible engine damage may result.
Note
^
"F" marked pistons can be installed in the same engine along with "L" and "R" marked pistons. Replace pistons as a set only when necessary.
