Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
WARNING: Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from
fuel. Fuel in the fuel system is under high pressure when the engine is not running. Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and
cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the following "Fuel Pressure
Release Procedure".
FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE
Always release the fuel pressure before disconnecting a fuel line.
1. Remove the fuel pump relay.
2. Start the engine.
3. After the engine stalls, crank the engine several times.
4. Turn oft the ignition switch.
5. Install the fuel pump relay.
6. open the fuel-filler cap.
7. Avoid leakage.
a. When disconnecting a fuel line hose, wrap a rag around it to protect against fuel leakage.
b. Plug the hose after removal.
NOTE: Install hose clamps to secure the fuel pressure gauge (if used) to fuel filter and the main hose.
