Keyless Entry Transmitter Battery: Testing and Inspection

TRANSMITTER BATTERY INSPECTION

NOTE:

-

If the battery is not subjected to load, it cannot be properly inspected.

-

A correct measurement cannot be obtained when the battery temperature is 0.

-

If the inspection result is below the standard voltage, inspect it again after it has been at 

18 °C {64 °F} or more for at least 30 minutes.

There is an auto power off function in the transmitter, so be sure to read the voltage within 

0.5 seconds after pushing the button.

1. Remove the transmitter cover.

2. Connect the positive (+) lead of the voltmeter to the positive (+) terminal of the transmitter and the negative (-) lead to the negative (-) terminal (or

circuit element).

3. Push any button of transmitter 10 time or more in every 

1 second and measure the voltage every time.

4. Compare the minimum voltage to the standard voltage.

If not as specified, replace transmitter battery.

If the keyless entry system does not operate even though the voltage is as specified, the transmitter may be malfunctioning. Perform the
following inspection on the transmitter:
i.

Use a transmitter known to be good.

ii. Install suspected battery is a good transmitter.
iii. Perform steps 2 to 4.

If voltage is not as specified, replace battery.

-

If voltage is as specified, replace transmitter.
