CRUISE CONTROL SURGE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
All 1999-2000 Millenia S models.

DESCRIPTION

While driving at highway speeds of 55-70 MPH with the cruise control engaged, some vehicles may surge 1-3 MPH. A modified cruise control module
is available to resolve this concern.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Verify customer concern by monitoring VSS PID with cruise control engaged between 55-70 MPH.

2.

Install modified cruise control module according to Workshop Manual (01-20 CRUISE CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

3.

Inspect cruise control actuator cable adjustment according to Workshop Manual (01-20 ACTUATOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT).

4.

Road test vehicle for approximately two (2) miles with cruise control engaged between 55-70 MPH.

If surge is gone, return vehicle to customer.

If surge is still present, proceed to STEP 5.

5.

Safely PARK the vehicle and turn OFF engine.

6.

Restart engine and repeat two (2) mile road test with cruise control engaged between 55-70 MPH.

Note:

Repeat STEPS 5 and 6 until surge concern is eliminated. STEPS 5 and 6 may have to be repeated 4-5 times before surge is completely eliminated.

7.

Verify repair.
