Before removal, release the parking brake.

Step 3. Inspection of Brake Shoe

Check the stamp on the edge of the brake shoe lining as shown in the illustration. If it is the old type shoe material, it should be replaced with the
modified type.

Black

" NBK D909B FE P " (replace shoes)

Old

Green

" NBK D909B FE S " (replace shoes)

Modified

Red

" NBK D9079 EE * " (do not replace)

Note:

" * " can be replaced with any number or letter. 

Note 1:
If a modified brake shoe set has already been installed, then it is not necessary to replace the brake shoes, regardless of whether or not the vehicle falls
within the VIN range of the recall.

Step 4. Brake Shoe Replacement

1.

Remove the brake shoes in the order shown in the diagram.

2.

Remove all brake dust from the backing plate and brake drums.
