Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

1.  

Disconnect the water thermosensor connector, then remove the water thermosensor from the engine.

2.  

Place the sensor in water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.

Check the resistance of the sensor with an ohmmeter.

4.  

If not as specified, replace the water thermosensor.

5.  

Install the water thermosensor with a new washer.  Torque the sensor to 25-29 Nm (2.5-3.0 mmkg; 18-22 ft lbs).

6.  

Connect the water thermosensor connector.
