Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
Rear

Expansion Valve Removal

Note: Before replacing of the expansion valve, carefully check the refrigeration system by referring to the symptom flowchart, "Insufficient
Cooling; No Cooling; Intermittent Cooling". See: Testing and Inspection

1.  Remove the rear cooling unit. See Evaporator Case.

2.  Disassemble the cooling unit. Remove the evaporator and expansion valve as an assembly.
3.  Disconnect the inlet and outlet pipes.
4.  Remove the capillary tube from the outlet pipe and remove the expansion valve.

Installation

Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tightening torque 

Inlet pipe: 11.8-14.7 N.m 120-150 kgf.cm, 105-130 in.lbf) 
Outlet pipe: 30-34 N.m (3.0-3.5 kgf.m, 22-25 ft.lbf)
