Idle Speed: Adjustments

PREPARATION

1.

Check engine condition (spark plugs, leaks in hoses, etc.).

2.

Turn all electrical loads "OFF."

3.

Warm engine to normal operating temperature.

ADJUSTMENT

Test Connector

1.

Connect a tachometer to engine.

2.

Ground test connector (green: 1-pin) with a jumper wire.

3.

Check that idle speed is within specifications:

800 ± 20 rpm

(M/T: neutral, A/T: P range)

4.

If idle speed is not within specification, remove blind cap from air adjusting screw and turn screw to adjust. 

5.

After adjustment, disconnect jumper wire from test connector and replace blind cap.
