Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

Throttle Sensor Terminal Identification

1.

Disconnect throttle sensor connector from throttle sensor.  Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "A" and "D."  Resistance should be 3.5 - 6.5
ohms.

2.

Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "B" and "D."  

Resistance Check While Opening Throttle

3.

Gradually open throttle valve while checking resistance.  With throttle valve fully closed, resistance should be below approximately 1K ohms.  With
throttle valve fully open, resistance should be approximately 3.5 - 6.5K ohms.

4.

If not within specifications, loosen mounting screws and rotate sensor to adjust.

5.

After any adjustment, also check idle switch adjustment.

6.

If correct resistance specifications cannot be obtained, replace throttle sensor.
