Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Throttle Sensor Replacement

1.  

Disconnect the throttle sensor connector.

2.

Remove the screws.

3.

Remove the throttle sensor.

4.

Install the throttle sensor.

Throttle Sensor Terminal Identification

5.  

Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "A" and "D".  The resistance should be 3.5-6.5 Ohms.

6.  

Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "B" and "D".  

Resistance Check While Opening Throttle

7.  

Gradually open the throttle valve while checking the resistance.  With the throttle valve fully closed, the resistance should be below approx. 1K
ohms.  With the throttle valve fully open, the resistance should be approx. 3.5-6.5K ohms.

8.  

Tighten the screws and seal them with white paint.
