Throttle Full Close Switch: Testing and Inspection

VARIABLE RESISTOR

Throttle Sensor Terminal Identification

1.   Disconnect throttle sensor connector from throttle sensor.  Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "A" and "C."  Resistance should be 3.5 - 6.5

ohms.

2.   Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "B" and "C."

Resistance Check While Opening Throttle

3.   Gradually open throttle valve while checking resistance.  With throttle valve fully closed, resistance should be below approx. 1K ohm.  With throttle

valve fully open, resistance should be approx. 3.5 - 6.5K ohms.

4.   If not within specifications, check throttle sensor adjustment.

IDLE SWITCH

1.   Disconnect throttle sensor connector from throttle sensor.
2.   Connect an ohmmeter between terminals "C" and "D".

Continuity Check

3.   Check for continuity between terminals with a feeler gauge inserted between throttle stop screw and throttle valve lever.  With a 0.5 mm (0.02 in)

gauge inserted, there should be continuity between terminals.  With a 0.7 mm (0.028 in) gauge inserted, there should be no continuity between
terminals.
