POWER STEERING FLUID HOSE COMES OFF
APPLICABLE MODELS
1989-95 MPV with a VIN of JM3LV52**S0799999 and lower.
DESCRIPTION
The power steering fluid hose may come off the fitting immediately after starting the engine in very cold ambient temperatures (-20F and lower). This
concern may be caused by increased system pressure due to a rise in power steering fluid viscosity during cold temperatures. At high viscosity levels,
resistance to flow increases and back pressure results.
Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the concern.
2.
Install a worm clamp on the power steering fluid line.
3.
Install the line tightly on the fitting.
4.
Tighten worm clamp.
NOTE:
To prevent reoccurrence, replace the original clamps (shown) with worm clamps.
