Liquid Vapor Separator: Testing and Inspection

Checking Solenoid Valve For Vacuum

SOLENOID VALVE

1.

Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

2.

Run the engine at idle.

3.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the charcoal cannister and check that no vacuum is felt.

4.

If not as specified, disconnect the vacuum hose from the solenoid valve.

Solenoid Valve Inspection

5.

Blow through the solenoid valve from hose "A" and check that air does not flow from "B".

Checking Purge Control Valve

6.

Disconnect the solenoid valve connector and connect 12V and a ground to the terminals of the solenoid valve.

7.

Check that air flows through the valve.

8.

If not as specified, replace the solenoid valve.
