FUEL FILLER LID HARD TO OPEN
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
All 2000-2001 MPVs with VINs lower than JM3 LW28** *0 201800.
DESCRIPTION
Fuel-filler lid may not open after pulling on fuel-filler lid release lever. This condition may be caused by a combination of the hinge binding and the
rubber stoppers sticking to the vehicle body. The shape of rubber stoppers of filler lid has been changed to prevent the stoppers from sticking to the
vehicle body. Additionally, a lift spring has been added to increase the opening force of fuel filler lid.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Replace both rubber stoppers with revised parts.
3.
Install lift spring as shown.
NOTE:
Hold lift spring while tightening and center top opening over locating bump to prevent rotation.
4.
If necessary, bend entire lift spring outward to ensure sufficient contact pressure against fuel-filler lid. Inspect by opening and closing the fuel lid
door several times.
