Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair

HYDRAULIC LASH ADJUSTER (HLA) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the splash shield (RH).
3. Remove the intake manifold.
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the P/S oil pump pulley and P/S oil pump with the P/S pipes connected.

Note:  Position the P/S oil pump so that it is out of the way.

6. Remove the IMRC actuator.
7. Remove the high-tension lead.
8. Remove the ignition coil.
9. Remove the water pump drive belt cover.

10. Remove the water pump drive belt.
11. Remove the water pump drive belt pulley.
12. Remove the camshaft oil seal.
13. Remove the camshaft oil seal housing.
