Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
Component Inspection

IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE INSPECTION
Note:  Perform the following test only as directed.

Simulation Test

1. Carry out the "Idle Air Control Inspection". If not as specified, perform the further inspection for the IAC valve. Refer to Powertrain Management;

Computers and Control Systems. 

Resistance Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the IAC valve connector.

3. Measure the resistance between the IAC valve terminals using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the IAC valve. Intake Manifold; Service

and Repair. If as specified but the Simulation Test is failed, carry out the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".
Resistance: 8.64 - 10.56 ohms

Circuit Open/Short Inspection

1. Disconnect the PCM connector.

2. Connect the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box) with the PCM disconnected.
3. Tighten the connector attaching bolt.

Tightening torque: 7.9 - 10.7 Nm (80 - 110 kgf-cm, 69.5 - 95.4 inch lbs.)

4. Inspect the following wiring harnesses for open or short (continuity check).

Open circuit

If there is no continuity, the circuit is open. Repair or replace the harness.

IAC valve terminal 1 (harness-side) and 104 pin breakout box terminal 54

IAC valve terminal 2 (harness-side) and 104 pin breakout box terminal 83

Short circuit

^

If there is continuity, the circuit is short. Repair or replace the harness.

IAC valve terminal 1 (harness-side) and body ground

IAC valve terminal 2 (harness-side) and power supply
