Brake Master Cylinder: Adjustments

1. Place the Special Service Tool (SST) atop the master cylinder.

Turn the adjusting bolt until it contacts the bottom of the push rod hole in the piston.

2. Apply 66.7 kPa (19.7 inHg) vacuum to the power brake unit by using a vacuum pump.

3. Invert the SST used in step 1, and place it on the power brake unit.

4. Check the clearance between the end of the adjusting bolt and the push rod of the power brake unit.
5. If it is not 0 mm (0 inch), loosen the push rod locknut and turn the push rod to make the adjustment by using the SSTs.

NOTE:  This adjustment produces the following clearance. Apply Approx. 66.7 kPa (19.7 inch Hg) to achieve 0.1-0.4 mm (0.004-0.015 inch)
push rod to piston clearance.
