Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove rear seat No.2.
2. Turn over the rear cabin carpet.
3. Remove the fuel pump cover.
4. Disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit connector.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 7 minutes.
6. Verify that the needle indicates E.

7. Ground terminal A of the fuel gauge sender unit's vehicle side connector and wait for 7 minutes.
8. Verify that the needle indicates F.
9. If the fuel gauge needle does not move or moves unusually, remove the instrument cluster.

10. Loosen the screws for the A, B, and C terminals.

NOTE:  If the screw is loosened excessively, it will disengage from the fuel gauge, and you will not be able to measure the resistance properly.

11. Measure the resistance between the fuel gauge terminals by using an ohmmeter.

12. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges.
