HEAD LIGHTS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY
APPLICABLE MODELS
All 1994-97 MPVs with VINs beginning with JM3LV522*V0819804 (2WD) and JM3LV523*V0819807 (4WD).
DESCRIPTION
The light unit switch, located on the back of the combination switch, may become deformed due to high temperature exposure. This may allow the
contacts to intermittently close, causing the headlights to come on automatically. Ribs have been added to the switch case and cam plate holder to reduce
deformation of the switch case.
Symptoms are:

While the vehicle is parked, the headlights may come on although the switch is turned OFF.

When touching the combination switch to illuminate the turn signal, the headlights may come on.
Customers complaining of this subject should have their vehicle inspected, and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer complaint.
2.
Remove the combination switch assembly from the vehicle, according to the Workshop Manual.
WARNING:
Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag, which may cause serious injury. Read service Warnings in the
Workshop Manual before handling the air bag module.
3.
Remove the light unit switch from the combination switch by removing the three (3) screws.
4.
Install the modified light unit switch in reverse order of step 3.
CAUTION:
Do not force the light unit in place, this may cause damage to the part.
5.
Install the combination switch assembly in the vehicle according to the Workshop Manual.
6.
Verify the repair.
