Fuel Injector: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Fuel Injector Resistance Test
1. Remove the fuel injector.
2. Check resistance of the fuel injector with an ohmmeter.
Resistance 12 - 16 Ohms
3. If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.
Fuel Leakage Test
WARNING: Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. fuel can also irritate the
skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE".
1. Remove the fuel injectors together with the fuel distributor.
2. Affix the fuel injectors firmly to the fuel distributor with wire.
3. Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND with a jumper wire.Keep the fuel distributor level.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
5. Tilt the fuel injectors approximately 60 degrees and verify that no fuel leaks from the fuel injector nozzles.
Leakage Specification: Less than 1 drop 1 minute
6. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and remove the jumper wire.
7. If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.
Fuel Pressure Hold Inspection
WARNING: Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate the
skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE".
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
