Inspection

Joint Shaft

Measure the joint shaft runout. Maximum runout is 0.03 mm (0.0012 inch).

Shift Fork

1. Measure the clearance between the gear sleeve and shift fork. Standard clearance is 0.1 - 0.4 mm (0.0040 - 0.0157 inch) and the maximum

clearance is 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch).

2. If not as specified, replace the gear sleeve or shift fork.

AFW Switch

1. Disconnect the Automatic Freewheel (AFW) switch connector and remove the switch.

2. Check for continuity at the switch by using an ohmmeter
3. If not as specified, replace the AFW switch.
