Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Constant Velocity Type

Replacement

REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 

1. Drain the differential gear oil.
2. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration, referring to removal note.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to installation note.

Removal Note 

Left Drive Shaft, Right Drive Shaft (5, 6) 
Separate the drive shaft from the differential by prying with a bar inserted between the outer ring and the differential.

NOTE:  If the drive shaft will not come out of the wheel hub easily, install a discarded nut onto the drive shaft so that the nut is flush with the
end of the drive shaft, and tap the nut by using a copper hammer.

Assembly Note
