1.

Remove the riv-nut.

2.

Use a small paint brush to apply zinc Rich Primer to the edges of the hole. Refer to the figure. 

CAUTION: 

Failure to apply the primer will result in water leakage.

3.

Place the riv-nut into the compressing tool and insert into the root hole.

4.

Compress riv-nut fully.

CAUTION: 

Properly installed, the riv-nut should withstand 50 in-lbs of rotational force without rotating.
Over tightening may damage threads.

5.

Confirm that the riv-nut is properly seated.
