DESCRIPTION

When attempting to re-charge a fully discharged battery, apply caution and remove it from the vehicle. If a sulphated battery is charged in the vehicle
with the battery cables connected and the charger is set to the high charge setting, excessive voltage produced by the charger may result in damage to the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM), audio system, memory back-up circuits and other electrical devices. Damage may also occur to power window
switches, lights and other similar components that are activated or that are in use while the battery is being charged in a vehicle with the battery cables
connected. The maximum voltage for vehicle electrical components is approximately 15 volts. Battery chargers generate at least 15 volts, and in some
cases, as much as 20 volts under the high charge setting.

CAUTION:

It is still recommended that whenever reprogramming modules using M-MDS (IDS/PDS), that a battery charger be connected to the vehicle battery
and set on the low charge setting to prevent module damage due to a low or weak battery condition.

NOTE:

Removing battery cables will erase memory circuits for audio, PCM, and other devices in the vehicle.

Vehicles with the auto open/close and anti-pinch feature (Mazda6, Mazdaspeed6, CX-7, etc.) must have the Power Window Initialization Procedure
performed. Refer to Service Bulletin 09-014/06: POWER WINDOW AUTO OPEN/CLOSE AND ANTI-PINCH FEATURES INOPERATIVE.
