Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection

Fuel System Pressure Inspection

WARNING:

-

Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also Irritate skin and
eyes.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Connect a fuel pressure gauge between the fuel filter (high pressure side) and fuel distributor. See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release
3. Connect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION:

-

Connecting the wrong data link connector terminals may possibly cause a malfunction. Carefully connect the specified terminals only.

4. Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND by using a 

jumper wire.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and measure the fuel line pressure.

Specification
270-310 kPa {2.7-3.2 kgf/sq.cm, 39-45 psi} 

6. Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the jumper wire.
7. If the pressure is higher than specified, check the fuel pump maximum pressure. If normal, check the pressure regulator or fuel return hose for

clogs.

8. If the pressure is lower than specified, measure the fuel line pressure with pinching the return hose.

If the fuel line pressure quickly increases, check the pressure regulator and PRC solenoid valve.

If fuel line pressure gradually increases, check the fuel pump maximum pressure. If the fuel pump maximum pressure is normal, check the hose
between the fuel pump and pressure regulator for clogs.
