Drive/Propeller Shaft: Service and Repair
Removal & Installation

Refer to Fig. 4, when performing the following procedure.
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tires.
2.
Remove splash shield, then transaxle drain plug.
3.
Raise staked portion of driveshaft locknut using suitable tool.
4.
Apply brakes, then loosen and remove locknut.
5.
Remove stabilizer, then tie rod ends using tool No. 490118850C or equivalent.
6.
Remove lower ball joint attaching bolt. On vehicles equipped with automatic transaxle when removing LH side driveshaft suspend engine with
tool No. 49G0175A0 or equivalent.
7.
Remove driveshaft clinch bolt and nut, pry down on lower arm to disconnect ball joint.
