EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION

Disconnect the EGR valve position sensor connector.

Measure the resistance between terminals A and B by using an ohmmeter.
Specification: 2.7 kohms
-
If not as specified, replace the EGR valve.

Connect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
-
Connect the SSTs (Engine Signal Monitor) to the ECM.
-
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum tube and install a vacuum pump to the valve.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Measure the voltage at the ECM terminal 3J.

If not as specified, inspect the harness and connector between the EGR valve position sensor and the ECM terminal.
-
If these harness and connector are OK, replace the EGR valve.
USING THE NGS
-
Disconnect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
-
Measure the resistance between terminals A and B of the connector by using an ohmmeter.
Specification: 2.7 kohms
-
If not as specified, replace the EGR valve.
-
Connect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
