Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection
Ball Joint, Lower
1. Remove ball joint dust boot with chisel. Do no damage ball joint stud.
2. Shake ball joint stud several times.
3. Install ball joint stud tool No. 49018510B, or equivalent, to ball joint stud, then measure rotation torque with a pull scale, Fig. 1.

4. Rotation torque should be 4.5-13 inch lbs. Pull scale reading should be 1.7 - 3.3 lbs.
5. When installing apply suitable grease inside of dust boot.
6. Using installer tool No. 49H028301, or equivalent, press dust boot onto ball joint, Fig. .
