Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Overhaul
1. Disassemble strut in numerical sequence as shown in Fig. 5, noting the following:

a. Insert copper or aluminum plates between strut and jaws of vise.
b. Loosen piston rod upper nut several turns. Do not remove nut.
c. Using spring compressor tool No.49 G304 1A0, or equivalent, compress spring and remove upper nut, Fig. 6.
