Power Brake Assist: Testing and Inspection
Function Check
1.
Stop engine and depress brake pedal a few times to relieve vacuum.
2.
With pedal depressed, start engine. After starting engine, pedal should move down slightly. If so, unit is functioning.
3.
After engine has run two minutes, turn it off. Depress pedal with normal force.
4.
If the first pedal stroke is long and gets shorter with subsequent strokes, the unit is operating. If a problem is found, inspect check valve, vacuum
hose and installation. Repair if necessary and check again.
5.
Start engine and depress pedal with usual force.
6.
Stop engine with pedal still depressed. Hold pedal for 30 seconds, if the pedal height does not change, the unit is operating. If there is a problem,
inspect check valve, vacuum hose and connection. Repair if necessary.
