Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
Fig. 49 Flywheel/Driveplate Bolts Tightening Sequence
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then separate transaxle from engine.
2.
On manual transaxle, remove clutch cover and clutch disc from flywheel.
3.
On all models, Hold flywheel/driveplate with holding fixture No. 49E301060 or equivalent, then remove attaching bolts.
4.
Cut oil seal lip with knife, then remove seal.
5.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install oil seal until flush with edge of rear cover.
b. Remove sealant from flywheel/driveplate bolt holes and bolts. Replace bolts if sealant cannot be removed.
c. Apply sealant to flywheel/driveplate bolts only if old bolts are used.
d. Torque flywheel/driveplate bolts in three steps in sequence shown in Fig. 49, to 71-76 ft. lbs.
