Alignment: Service and Repair
Front Wheel Alignment
Preliminary Checks
1.
Ensure tire pressure is as specified by manufacturer.
2.
Inspect ball joints and steering linkage for excessive looseness. Repair as required.
3.
Ensure vehicle is level and has no luggage or passenger load.
4.
Ensure vehicle ride height, refer to VEHICLE RIDE HEIGHT.
Camber

FRONT
Adjust front camber after adjusting front caster.
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Loosen the front and rear cam nuts. Fig. 1.
3.
Turn the front and rear adjusting cam bolts the same amount in the opposite direction as directed in Fig. 3, to provide the correct camber angle.
4.
Turning the front cam one graduation on the scale changes the caster angle about 1/3 of an inch and the camber about 5/12 of an inch.
Turning the rear cam one graduation changes the caster angle about 1/3 of an inch and the camber about 1/30 of an inch.
5.
If cam can not be turned far enough to make adjustment, adjust caster using the opposite cam.
6.
After adjustments have been obtained, torque nuts to 54-70 ft. lbs., then adjust front toe-in.
REAR
Adjust rear toe-in before adjusting rear camber.
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Loosen front and rear cam nuts on rear control arm.
3.
Adjust cam nuts,until proper specifications have been obtained. Turning front cam one graduation changes camber about 1/4 of an inch.
Turning the rear cam one graduation changes the camber about 1/10 of an inch.
4.
After adjustments have been obtained, torque nuts to 54-70 ft. lbs., then adjust toe-in.
