DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience a slow retracting seat belt when the belt is unfastened and released.
Dirt, dust or smudges can increase the friction between the belt guide in the seat back shoulder area or anchor area and may cause the seat belt to retract
slowly.
The shape of the belt guide has been changed and the friction resistance within the seat belt has been reduced. Customers having this concern should
have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Open the convertible top to improve accessibility.
2. Confirm the seat belt retraction performance by fully pulling out the seat belt and holding it in position by hand.
NOTE:
Avoid any interruption or resistance during retraction such as seat belt rubbing on the front seat or by assisting/guiding the belt by hand during the
retraction.
3. Completely release the seat belt and confirm the time between seat belt release and complete retraction.
- If the seat belt fully retracts in two (2) seconds or less, the retraction performance is within specification. Do not replace any parts. Return the vehicle
to the customer.
- If the seat belt fully retracts in more than two (2) seconds or does not fully retract, proceed to next step.
4. Remove all dirt, dust and smudges from the seat belt, the belt guide and the anchor area according to Steps a - c below or see Owner's Manual (Section
8 - "Appearance Care").
a. Clean the belt webbing with a mild soap solution such as upholstery or carpet cleaner.
NOTE:
Follow the cleaning instructions carefully. Do not bleach or dye the belt webbing as this may weaken it.
