Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT

Hot transmissions and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until the transmission and ATF are cool before
replacing the ATF. 

1. Remove the dipstick.
2. Remove the drain plug and washer.
3. Drain the ATF into a container.
4. Install a new washer and the drain plug.

Tightening torque 18 - 22 Nm (1.8 - 2.3 kgf-m, 14 - 16 inch lbs.) 

5. Add the specified amount and type of ATF through the oil filler tube.

ATF type M-III or equivalent (e. g. Dexron(R)III / Mercon(R))

Fill amount (approximate quantity) 6.7 Liters (7.1 US quarts, 5.9 Imp quarts) 

6. Install the dipstick.
7. Verify that the ATF level is in the HOT 65°C (149°F) range.

Add ATF to the specified level if necessary.
