MX-5 Miata LS L4-1.8L DOHC (2001)
Fuel hold pressure
More than 250 kPa {2.55 kgf/sq.cm, 36.3 psi}
12. Disconnect the SST and connect the fuel pipe to the pulsation damper No.1.
13. Complete the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE".
FUEL PRESSURE HOLD INSPECTION
WARNING: Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Always carry out the
following procedure with the engine stopped.
1. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE".
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the fuel pipe on the pulsation damper No.1 outlet side. Set the SST between the pulsation damper No.1 and the fuel distributor as
shown in the figure.
NOTE: Verify that a click is heard when the SST is pushed into pulsation damper No.1.
4. Pull the connector by hand and verify that it is installed securely. Visually inspect that the tabs of the retainer are securely fitted into the connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Verify that vehicles for AT is at N range and MT is at neutral position, then start the engine.
7. Observe the fuel pressure gauge indicator while heavy acceleration.
8. Verify that the fuel pressure holds steady within specification during the test.
Fuel hold pressure
370 - 420 kPa {3.7 - 4.3 kgf/sq.cm, 53 - 61 psi}
9. Disconnect the SST and connect the fuel pipe to the pulsation damper No.1.
-
If not as specified, inspect fuel hold pressure.
Fuel Pump Inspection
Simulation Test
1. Carry out the "Fuel Pump (FP) Operation Inspection", "Fuel Pump (FP) Control Inspection".
-
If not as specified, perform the further inspection for the FP.
Continuity Inspection
NOTE: Perform the following test only when directed.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the service hole cover.
3. Disconnect the FP connector.
