EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
Detects EGR gas temperature and signals PCME. Used to determine if EGR valve and system are functioning within system parameters. If not,
PCME will set diagnostic trouble code 16. For example, a stuck EGR valve can set code 16.
LOCATION
On side of EGR valve.
OPERATION
Sensor resistance changes in relation to EGR valve operation. PCME calculates EGR valve operation based on resistance through sensor.
