Neutral Safety Switch: Description and Operation

Neutral Switch

PURPOSE

Informs PCME that manual transmission is either in neutral or any other gear.  Input is used in PCME calculations for fuel injection quantity, idle
speed, A/C cut-off, and purge control.

LOCATION

Side of transaxle.

OPERATION

This is an "ON/OFF" switch.  When transmission is in neutral, switch is "ON" (shows continuity).  In any other gear, switch is "OFF" (no
continuity).
