Condenser Fan Motor: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
COOLING FAN AND/OR ADDITIONAL FAN DOES NOT OPERATE
NORMAL OPERATION OF COOLING FANS
Turbo with MTX and all EC-AT models
The cooling fan (main fan) comes on when the coolant temperature reaches 97°C (206°F). If the coolant reaches 108°C (226°F) both the cooling fan
and the additional fan will operate. When the A/C is turned on, the cooling fan will engage but the additional fan will not engage unless the refrigerant
pressure in the A/C system reaches 1,472 kPa (15 kg/cm2, 213 psi) or the engine coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F).
Non-Turbo with MTX model
The cooling fan comes on when the coolant temperature reaches 97°C (206°F). When the A/C is turned on, the additional fan comes on regardless of
coolant temperature.
Note: If the magnetic clutch does not work when the engine is running, (while A/C and blower fan switches are turned ON), see "Compressor does not
run (Magnetic clutch does not engage)" before proceeding.
Warning: Keep hands, hair, clothing, etc. away from the fans while performing the following steps; the fan may engage.
Step 1
Check that the following fuses are OK
Step 2
Prepare the vehicle for testing by conducting the following procedures:
1. Turn A/C switch ON.
2. Turn blower switch ON.
