Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Fuel Injectors
WARNING: Before performing the following operation, release the fuel pressure from the fuel system to reduce the possibility of injury or fire.
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure by starting engine with fuel pump relay (circuit open relay) disconnected and let run until engine dies, then slowly
and carefully remove hose on outlet side of fuel filter. Cover with a clean rag while removing hose, to avoid spraying fuel in your face.
2.
Disconnect intake duct from throttle body.
3.
Remove intake manifold dynamic chamber and throttle body, as an assembly, from intake manifold.
4.
Disconnect vacuum hoses and fuel hoses from fuel rail (fuel delivery pipe).
5.
Disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors.
6.
Remove fuel rail.
7.
Remove injectors, O-rings, and insulators.
8.
Install in the reverse order. Tighten dynamic chamber to 14 - 19 ft lbs (19 - 15 Nm).
9.
When installation is complete, energize the fuel pump (jumper the fuel pump test connector and turning the ignition "ON") and make sure there are
no leaks.
