Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection

Continue checks for at least two minutes each to correctly judge condition.
1. Remove instrument cluster as described in ``Electrical'' section.
2. Apply battery voltage to terminal 2G and ground terminal 1C, Fig. 5, then connect red lead of checker 49 0839 285 to terminal 2E and ground
black lead.
3. Set the checker to 7 ohms. Gauge should indicate Full.
4. Set the checker to 32.5 ohms. Gauge should indicate Half Full.
5. Set the checker to 95 ohms. Gauge should indicate Empty.
6. If gauge indicates correctly, repair wiring harness or replace fuel gauge sender.
7. If gauge does not indicate correctly, replace fuel gauge.
