REMOVAL
Steering Gear
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. Remove cotter pin, nut and tie rod end ball joint.
3. Support engine with suitable tool and remove engine mount.
4. Remove pressure pipe, return hose and clamp, then the intermediate shaft bolt.
5. Remove mounting bracket nut and bolt, and pull steering gear out righthand side.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Loosely tighten upper mounting bolts, then tighten lower bolts to specifications right to left followed by upper bolts left to right.
b. Hand tighten pressure pipe fitting to gear housing, then hand tighten lower bracket bolt. Tighten upper bracket bolt, then the lower bolt to
specifications.
7. After installation, check for fluid leakage, bleed air from the system, check the steering angle and toe-in, and adjust if necessary.
