1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
2. Check wheel bearing endplay as follows:
a. Remove caliper assembly and disc plate.
b. Position dial indicator against bearing cap, then push and pull brake hub by hand in axial direction and measure endplay.
c. If endplay exceeds 0.002 inch, adjust locknut torque or replace wheel bearing.
3. Remove hub cap and locknut, then remove caliper assembly leaving hose attached and suspend, Fig. 1.
4. Remove disc plate, ABS sensor, tie rod end, stabilizer, lower arm ball joint and steering knuckle.
5. Remove oil seal, then use special wheel hub puller tool Nos. 49G0331A1, 49G003104, 49G033105 and 49G033102, or equivalents, and press
front wheel hub out of steering knuckle, Fig. 2.
6. If bearing inner race remains on front wheel hub, grind 0.0197 inch off bearing inner race, then remove with chisel.
7. Remove retaining ring and press out wheel bearing with special wheel hub puller tool Nos. 49G033102, 49G003104 and 49G033106, or
equivalents.
