Fuel Gauge: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Fuel gauge

1. Disconnect the fuel tank unit connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 4 minutes.
3. Verify' that the needle indicates E.
4. Ground terminal C of the fuel tank unit's vehicle side - connector and wait for 4 minutes.
5. Verify that the needle indicates F.
6. Remove the instrument cluster.
7. Disassemble the instrument cluster to remove the fuel and water temperature gauges.

8. Using an ohmmeter, measure and verify that the resistance between terminals A and B, B and C, and A and C is as shown below.

9. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges.
