Steering Shaft: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove in the order shown in the illustration, noting the following.
CAUTION: Do not try to remove the steering wheel by hitting the shaft with a hammer. The column will collapse.
3. Remove the steering wheel by using a suitable puller with the wheels in the straight-ahead position.
INSTALLATION
1. Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following.
2. Tighten all necessary nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
